One of the things that certainly do when you start to create a blog is to experiment with free blogs. The best free platform for creating a blog is Google Blogger. But eventually you realize that despite being a good service need more freedom and so you decide to migrate from blogger to pay hosting and own domain. It is the step that nearly everyone has given.
Personally Blogger seems excellent, but limits you in some things such as the url entries always have the year and month: http:/technologygupshup.blogspot.in and has no more option to change that, even using your own domain.
Step 1: Install WordPress
Before starting this little tutorial clarified that it is not install WordPress on your own hosting. Here we assume that you already have your domain and hosting, but nevertheless this step it is very easy, if you have not already done so I recommend visiting the official entry of WordPress where I explain how to install WordPress step by step. Installation is easy, takes less than five minutes.
Step 2: Customize WordPress
Assuming that you already have installed the CMS, the following will customize. Here are some things you should do:
- Change the theme of your blog from Appearance> Themes
- Check them around, add or delete as applicable.
- Please install the necessary plugins: I recommend that you install Akismet to avoid spam comments, SEO and Yoast Wordfence Security to begin with. Now go to Settings> General and set the blog name and description.
- Now go to Settings> General and set the blog name and description.
- Now go to Settings> Permanent links and choose the recommended technogupshup.com / input-name configuration. This is important if you do not, you will have many problems later if you want to change them because the tickets will be indexed with such URLs.
- Deletes the entry and the page that comes by default WordPress installation.
Step 3: Create a backup Blogger
Open your Blogger account and go to the blog you want to migrate.
- Go to Settings> General and in the first option, choose Export blog.
- Download the xml file which is supported by all the posts on your blog.
- The file is downloaded in XML format, to make it compatible with WordPress WXR format should make it, this is done with this handy little tool in which you upload the file and download it again and converted.
Step 4: Restore the backup on WordPress
Return to WordPress and go to Tools> Import. From the list select WordPress, if you have not installed should install, which is fast. Will then be asked to upload the file type you turned xwr the end of the previous step. Follow the steps indicated. If by any case you fails you can try to import the Blogger option in the list, which you must give access to your account and the entries will be imported.
Important: With this we have all the entries in WordPress, but not the images, if you wish you can download from the Google Picassa for and add them one by one or tickets.
Step 5: Avoid Duplicate Content
Sure you're thinking, now I have duplicate entries in Blogger and WordPress, what you would do nothing. What we do here is a trick to redirect visitors from Blogger to WordPress. We did it by doing the following:

Open and go to Blogger Template. Below is a option called back to classic templates. There and then choose which you enter to edit the HTML template. There you must delete what you have and place the following: !
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en" dir="<$BlogLanguageDirection$>">
<head>
<title><$BlogPageTitle$></title>
<script type="text/javascript">
<MainOrArchivePage>
window.location.href='http://www.technogupshup.com/'
</MainOrArchivePage>
<Blogger><ItemPage>
window.location.href='http://www.technogupshup.com/blogger/?q=<$BlogItemPermalinkURL$>'
</ItemPage></Blogger>
</script>
<MainPage><link rel="canonical" href="http://www.technogupshup.com/" /></MainPage>
<Blogger><ItemPage>
<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.technogupshup.com/<$BlogItemPermalinkURL$>" />
</ItemPage></Blogger>
</head><body>
<div style="border:#ccc 1px solid; background:#eee; padding:20px; margin:80px;">
<p>This page has moved to a new address.</p>
<h1>
<MainOrArchivePage><a href="http://www.technogupshup.com"><$BlogTitle$></a></MainOrArchivePage>
<Blogger><ItemPage>
<a href="http://www.technogupshup.com/<$BlogItemPermalinkURL$>"><$BlogItemTitle$></a>
</ItemPage></Blogger>
</h1>
</div> </body></html>
<!-- replace technogupshup.com with your WordPress site URL --->
technogupshup.com replaced by the address of your site in WordPress Save the changes. Usually, this should already redirected with visits from Blogger to WordPress.
